Resolved Question: What is the best area of california to move?

I currently live in Philadelphia, PA and have been wanting to move this summer for college, the reason being i want to get into acting and going to school and California to do so would also give me the opportunity to do that and hopfully devolop my acting. The thing is im not sure which area of California would be the safest. Philadelphia is the worst there's crime everywhere, the people are rude, and i honestly think the longer i live here the more likely it is i'll end up shot, robbed, or some other horrible ''accident'' will happen to me. Last week a woman got killed in a store for testifying in a murder and there are gangs everywhere who would shoot you, stab you, or jump you just for walking by them or looking at them. I really want to move ASAP. That being said i don't want to move from one bad area to another area that's crime filled. So what areas of California are safest?
