I've been back and forth with the hospital and my insurance company and they think everything's fine. I'm a little suspicious that my insurance company treats a 30k+ bill like it's spare change. I need an unbiased third opinion that can help me get restitution if they find something wrong with the bill. Here's the details: In April I had a diagnostic cardiac catheterization, 30-45 minutes on the table, no stents, everything was fine and I was out of the hospital the same day. Costs: $29,909 not counting the Doctor's bill. Also, because the doctor and hospital were under the umbrella of my insurance company's network, the hospital knocked off about 5or6 thousand dollars. Lucky me! So there you have it, routine cardiac catheterization for 35k+. Seems a little steep don't you think? Now, I only have to pay 10% of these bills but that's a lot for someone who lives paycheck to paycheck. Can someone give me some detailed info about the normal costs of this procedure (I live near Philadelphia PA) and/or who I can contact to see if I've been ripped off.
